No Guns No Bosses — Overview
Shares world with: HOLLOWROUND (both set in the GUNS world)
Format: Fiction / setting bible
Status: Scattered story fragments; world context established; Jean character needs consolidation
What It Is
Stories and setting content centered on Caliber Island and the people who resist or escape DAC's reach. "No Guns No Bosses" names the philosophy: reject the Grand United Nation of States (GUNS) as a political entity, and reject the corporate-boss structure (DAC, etc.) as an economic one. The philosophy is called Yozhism.
The GUNS World (shared with HOLLOWROUND)
See CLAUDE.md root for full shared-world facts. Key NGNB-relevant points:
- Caliber Island — semi-independent; culturally distinct; Caliber fashion is notoriously "bottomless" (causes decency-law issues on the mainland); Caliber food has fun spices that the tourist versions water down
- Yozhism — the Caliber Island political/economic philosophy; anti-GUNS-state, anti-corporate boss
- DAC programs:
- Rodeo — grooming program; targets vulnerable individuals with specific affinities (e.g. Rhonda's balloon predisposition); provides lavish living in exchange for behavioral shaping and observation; food likely drugged
- Unnamed Caliber combat program — similar to Rodeo but targeting Caliber youth for obedient combatants; exploitation of this program (and denim-related economic coercion) stoked the Caliber resistance
Primary Characters
Jean
The main NGNB character. (Earlier iteration was Kilo, developed in the North Tek / Sabrous setting — not collecting that material here.) Jean's details are still being consolidated.

Mia
Jean's companion and a central driver of Jean's character motivation. Key details:
- Genetic condition that limits her physical development — she stays small and slight, which also caps her military fitness. This is the core wound: she feels her duty was robbed from her, not chosen away from her.
- Appearance: Her genetic condition produces a cluster of symptoms — small stature, a youthful look, and androgyny are all part of the same picture. The androgynous dimension was added as a recent refinement, not as a replacement for the youthfulness; they coexist. She's a full adult. The androgynous-and-slight look does let her consciously play into that if she wants to (it's a niche audience that's often starved for it), though she doesn't have the career/platform to exploit it.
- Inspiration for the androgyny angle: Young male roles in children's cartoons are routinely cross-acted by women; the reverse is rarer but does happen. That ambiguity fits Mia's symptom cluster and also folds more naturally into a cast that's already queer-coded.
- This fits naturally into a cast that's already heavily queer-coded — not entirely intentional, but likely influenced by touchstones like Tenchi Muyo and MLP:FiM creating an overall bias toward female and feminine characters.

Mia
Jean's companion/connection. Appears in the same Dec 2025 notes as Jean.
Team Brisket
A mercenary/extraction team operating in GUNS territory, frequently around DAC's orbit. Members:
- Diana "Sprite" Fennick — canine; DAC Extraction and Retrieval officer; off-duty means off-armed (DAC policy); carries guilt about Pixel's situation; navigates between DAC loyalty and team loyalty
- Sarah — orange-furred; fiery (literally singed in the latest job); enthusiastic about real Caliber peppers; pro-Caliber interest
- Stone — massive purple bear; former cop; monitoring role; uncomfortable with Caliber cultural expression; contemptuous of "sedition"; watching DAC tech
- Aya "Pixel" Sprite — Diana's daughter; callsign Pixel (Sprite → Pixel); teal canine with orange hair, rainbow-banded ears, rainbow-yellow tech; grew up with real Caliber food; tech specialist; showed up at a Busui amateur bracket and won by treating it as a data optimization problem
Revel Romp Jr. / DAC Leadership
- Revel Romp Sr. — founded the Rodeo Program; murdered (ruled accidental)
- Revel Romp Jr. ("Boss"/"Junior") — pink unicorn, mid-30s, looks like a children's cartoon character; cold ancient quality behind the bright exterior; expanded Rodeo recruitment 3× after taking over
- Mrs. Faith Art — connected to Jean; involved in Rodeo selection process; facilitating discreetly
- "The Romp Files" — documents Jean discovers that escalate danger (see
source-conversations.md)
Rhonda Rubberbreaker, Mica, Sandy, Kira, Vass
These characters appear across HOLLOWROUND and NGNB content. Primary docs are in hollowround/. Rhonda's escape to Caliber Island is where GUNS world and NGNB intersect most directly.
Caliber Island Culture
- Fashion: "bottomless" Caliber style; denim jeans are a contested flashpoint (DAC tried to mandate denim clothing while imposing heavy tariffs, making compliance economically impossible — a direct trigger for resistance, analogous to the Boston Tea Party)
- Food: spicier, more complex than the tourist/mainland versions; Caliber peppers are imported "through proper channels" on the mainland
- "Caliber Cultural Experience" restaurants appear across GUNS territory — fictionalized, sanitized versions of Caliber culture that locals find offensive
Active Story Threads (from source conversations)
- Jean & Mia — consciousness transfer: Jean is planning a consciousness transfer for Mia; major emotional arc; late-2025 development
- The Romp Files: Jean discovers something dangerous about Revel Romp; escalation point for the broader DAC arc
- Honeypot Protocol: Detective Mara Fenwick's sting against Revel Romp Jr.; DAC internal investigation arc
- Jean/Jam: Jean appears in some contexts as "Jam" — variant name used in certain market/setting scenes; same character, different context or era
Key Themes
- Corporate exploitation and escape from it
- Consent, grooming, and the difference between authentic self-expression and conditioned behavior
- Economic coercion as a tool of political control
- Caliber as a refuge that DAC won't openly pursue people into (but tracks them from afar)
- Sandy's pretend-ignorance as a survival strategy and the costs of that choice
